Educational program of the 2017 Festival
Welcome to the outside world, the worlds beyond: this program is not a simple exhortation to travel and change of scene… It invites the audience to think about our past of conquerors, about the current political crisis, our affiliations and collective identities such as our race, social class or sex. We will follow unconventional characters going on adventures: a teenager from Wallis leaves his island to be part of a rugby team in Agen (Mercenaire from Sacha Woff), the son of a cuban slave became famous in France thanks to a stand up comedy show that he shares with a white clown (Chocolat from Rodschdy Zem), an english explorer sacrificing his family life to look for a lost city in the Amazon ( The lost city of Z from James Gray), migrants who washed up on Lampedusa Island (Fuocoammare from Gianfranco Rosi), a white guy stuck in a small village in Sahel and who behaves as a colonist (Le temps de la kermesse est terminé from Frederick Chignard) and finally, two women soldiers fighting against male domination. (Voir du pays From Delphine and Muriel Coulin). What these different worlds and journeys show us is that violence from the past still lasts such as the vestiges of colonialism, permanency of armed conflict and social classes, inequality between men and women. Each screening will be followed by a debate with one or more members of the film crew.
