Gagarine
by Fanny Liatard , Jérémy Trouilh
Official selection 2020
Official synopsis
Youri comes from Gagarine, in the suburbs of Paris. When he hears about the imminent destruction of this vast red brick neighborhood, the young man stands against that decision in order to save his “spaceship”. Developed with the inhabitants of this ever-evolving territory, this first feature creates an unprecedented representation of the suburbs, between a dreamlike vision and realism. “Gagarine” is built around a duality which originates as much from the encounter of two genres as from that of two characters from different cultures. Past and present also clash, creating the possibility of a future that seeks to open up imaginations.
