Official synopsis
“Before Tim” is the shattered portrait of a love story seen through VCR videos shot by the protagonists themselves. After several short films in which he already explored memory, Alexis Diop continues to navigate its borders by inventing the genesis of a child who witnesses the love between his parents crumble.
Biography and Filmography
Alexis Diop studied film theory at the University Paris 3-Sorbonne Nouvelle. In 2019, his video UPCYCLING TEMARI was exhibited at the contemporary art center La Panacée in Montpellier. His short film AVANT TIM, notably featuring Françoise Lebrun and Pauline Lorillard, won the Grand Prix Contrebande at FIFIB and was screened on Mubi France and at the Cinémathèque Française in 2021. Alexis has just completed his new film, ADIEU EMILE, produced by Barney Production and Remembers, and is currently developing his first feature film as part of the Atelier scénario at La Fémis. In addition to his directing work, he works as a production manager and assistant director with filmmakers such as Bertrand Bonello, Mati Diop, and Nadav Lapid.
