Gaby Baby Doll
by Sophie Letourneur
Hors compétition 2014
Official synopsis
Gaby should not be left alone at night. This is not the advice of her doctor, who wants to prescribe her a monastic rest. But she feels bad and asks all the boys from the village to look after her while she sleeps. There are limits to their patience. The tale has another character: Nicolas, the castle's keeper. Gaby turns this misanthropic hermit, this expert in loneliness around; she chooses him - even if she turns him away from his cherished ways.
Girl meets Boy. Sophie Letourneur has revolved around this proven recipe for the romantic and eternal comedy, since her first short film Manue Bolognese. Almost like in a documentary, she catches love at its purest. In Gaby Baby Doll, the filmmaker fully cherishes the romance, with her own malice.
