Official synopsis

Eight months after their son’s death, Becca and Howie are gradually catching their breath. Howie experiences new things while Becca prefers taking her distance from her overly intrusive family. Against all odds, she gets closer to the young man responsible for the death of their child.

The programmer’s eye

Moving away from the themes and aesthetics espoused in his first two feature films, John Cameron Mitchell tackles more universal subjects in “Rabbit Hole”. Imbued with a certain simplicity, the film highlights the torment experienced by the two parts of the couple, and especially by the female character, who must waltz between the daily life of a housewife and that of a bereaved mother. This atmosphere is magnified by the accurate and moving performance of Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart. Despite the dramatic essence of the film, the director masters a nuanced tone, and takes a liberating look at forgiveness and mourning.
