There is No Evil Sheytan vojud nadarad
by Mohammad Rasoulof
Special screenings 2020
Official synopsis
Mohammed Rasoulof's new film exposes four destinies in present-day Iran, four space-times that are linked by thin threads and go from the city to the countryside. In fact, the devil is prowling behind the seeming banality of things. All these trajectories share the system’s monstrosity. One has to serve it like a henchman, at the risk of being stripped of one’s citizenship. One has to fight it like a soldier, at the risk of losing one’s humanity. In the remarkable and striking “There is No Evil”, edition is a chopper and the narrative an implacable machine.
