In an insurrectionary climate, four twenty-year-old friends talk about politics. A big protest is approaching, yet one of them, Clara, has to write a college essay. As she’s caught in the virtual images and the comfort of her bedroom, going out proves harder than expected.

What to do with this permanent desire for insurrection in the face of a collapsing world? The young women from “TEAR IT DOWN” answer this question by looking for the most effective way to militate within a society that is self-destructing because it is bogged down by superfluity. Noëlle Bastin and Baptiste Bogaert portray a generation struggling with a structure that it doesn’t know how to reinvent, lost in the flow of notifications and horizon-less Internet browsing. Between police violence and demonstrations perceived as fashion shows, this lucid, contemporary and funny film invents a new framework of thought.

Biography and Filmography
Baptiste Bogaert (1990) and Noëlle Bastin (1991) are a Belgian filmmaking duo living in Brussels. They met after graduating from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and La Cambre in 2015 and quickly initiated an artistic collaboration. Through the specific form of each film, Baptiste and Noëlle seek to see and hear what makes up our time, what is at work in it, how it shapes us. The duo works between fiction and documentary, and also designs video installations.
